Doctors, Thrifting, Eating...It's All Good!

Last Wednesday I had an appointment with my cardiologist in Milwaukee.
Deb rode along with me, I can drive now that I am feeling better, but it's more fun to go with a friend.
My bloodwork was good, my bp is up a bit and steady, weight ???? Unfortunately I will always suffer from CHF and will have to take meds....but I am doing/feeling great.  My appetite has returned so my weight is up. I want to lose about 5 pounds or at least stay where I am:
1) I need to eat fewer sweets
2) I need to walk more
I do track my steps with a pedometer ap on my phone and try to walk more steps today than the previous day. It's not really accurate because I do not have my phone on my person every waking moment.
After my doctor visit we drove across the street to have lunch at Noodles & Company, where I always have Pesto Cavatappi with shrimp. It's not low sodium, but it fits within my limits.
Next we wanted to go to a scrapbooking store, Deb found one that was not too far away...thanks to smart phones. the Scrapbook Store. We found it, no problem...and lo and behold there was a USA thrift store next door.
It was a very nice scrapbook store, lots of nice stuff...not much Christmas tho...yet, and a great crop room in the back...... Oh, if we lived closer..... Neither one of us bought a thing. I don't need or want anything.
Of course we hit the thrift store too, USA thrift store. It was very nicely set up, clean, and had good prices.
Looks like they received a donation of carousel horses...and look what they turned into. Love it!

I purchased this cute purple hat for my birthday month in April. (red hatters wear purple hats and red clothing during their birthday month)
$3.99

AND across the parking lot we spotted a St Vincent de Paul store....guess what? we hit that store too. It was also a very nice, clean, and fairly priced store. I am finding Goodwill to be expensive.
While we were there Deb grabbed about 5 formals and we squished both of our over 60 year old bodies into one dressing room to try to try them on.....oh, it was funny. (the theme for the Wisconsin Red Hatters convention next year is prom). Nothing fit.
I found this BELIEVE sign in my favorite local thrift store the other day for $3.

Another day I picked up this desk chair for $5. It's a lot better than the wooden chair that grandson J had been using...it kept falling apart.

That's it for now folks, come back soon!

  4. I've been playing catch up with reading your posts, too. I know you'll know what I mean when I tell you I've been in Sheboygan finishing my research on a home there. So I don't leave you in suspense I can tell you that I have the information I was looking for!
Back to playing catch up...you have the best luck finding cool things and useful things when you go to thrift stores! You look fantastic wearing the purple hat and that office chair was a steal!
