p. 56 "We packed our purchases on the porch and realized, in the same instant, with joy and amazement that Mary Ellen was no longer a part of our retinue"
This is the book we chose to read. We met last night at a local deli to discuss it. (that's the deli my friend and I were at last Tuesday- the food was just as good as we remembered it to be!) I checked online reviews and the ones from our group were pretty much the same - either you loved it or didn't like it at all. I am barely into it and will finish it! The book does contain a host of facts and figures, some don't care for that. Actually I am finding it interesting to learn. In fact, one gal told us how fascinating she found the fact that Centralia Pa is an abandoned town that has a coal mine burning under it. She pulled out her ipad (which lust over) and pulled up some photos and info.....gotta love free Wifi and technology Thanks Carolee for piquing my interest.
Our book club is so goofy and fun!
I wonder where Mary Ellen got to....
ReplyDeleteI love the cover on the book, not sure it is something I would read, but it looks and sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteJust a side note... I couldn't get to your blog with the linky thingy on Freda's blog. I went to the comments and came right to your blog. Enjoy your friends and reading and discussing.
I've always been fascinated by the Appalachian Trail, so this sounds like a good book for me. Thanks for telling me about it!
ReplyDeleteI wonder why she was not longer part..... odd.... I hope she wasn't eaten by a bear.
ReplyDeletethe cover reminds me of the banff squirrel! :)
