Eggs and More

Read this on facebook and wanted to share

We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the ‘Senior Special' was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $2.99.
"Sounds good," my wife said, "but I don't want the eggs."
"Then I'll have to charge you $3.49 because you're ordering a la carte," the waitress warned her.
"You mean I'd have to pay more for not taking the eggs?" my wife asked incredulously.
"Yes," said the waitress.
"I'll take the special, then," my wife said.
"How do you want your eggs?" the waitress asked.
"Raw and in the shell," my wife replied.
She took the two eggs home and baked a cake. ( don't mess with seniors)

Since I'm kinda grouchy I thought I'd start off with a funny.
....and if I'm ever in that situation I hope I remember to ask for my eggs in that form.
First: I'm still not feeling any better....this is the 3rd week. I am so tired and take a nap late in the afternoon...and I do sleep. I also get so out of breath and can not walk and talk at the same time. When I do go to bed I sleep fitfully.
But my appetite is back, that I WAS NOT worried about. I am not sleeping so late in the morning, that's a good sign.
I went in for my physical earlier in the week, which did not happen. My BP was really low, so after she talked to my cardiology nurse I was told to go back to my previous dose of that med. We talked in depth about how terrible I felt. The NP ordered a 4th set of blood tests for me.
Finally.....some news. I'm glad all of my other tests were good...but what is wrong with me? Why do I feel so awful?
My thyroid is under active, most likely from my radiation last year. I'll start the new meds tomorrow.
Also my inflammation indicators are quite high. I am not sure what that means exactly, but arthritis, and such does run in my family so that doesn't surprise me.
Since I am a blood thinner I have my blood checked about every 4 weeks. My INR is supposed to be between 2-3, so when the nurse called and said it was 6.3 I shouted out "holy shit".
Next week I am going to have my physical. The week after I have two more dr appointments - a rheumatologist and an electrophysiologist. I sure hope one of these doctors can figure out why I am so out of breath.
Second: I'm grouchy because I let one person get to me, even though 50 other people like me, I listen to the one that hates me and let that bother me.
On the bright side Yesterday I had lunch at school with 2 of my grandsons. We always enjoy that.
I have been doing the aquatic exercises at the Y with the Silver Sneakers b/c I can move at my own pace. Today we had a Valentine's party - soup & sandwich and some games (prizes, of course). It was really nice.
Looks like it will be a cold and quite weekend here. Kev and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day...actually he doesn't really celebrate any holiday. He does bring me bar food on Wednesday I can live with that.
Happy Valentine's Day to you!!

  1. Prayers for your body to be healed! I felt terrible when my blood pressure was low, so tired and out of breath. Dr had me quit taking it but it took almost a month before I felt any better. Hang in there and I hope you feel stronger very soon!

    1. Yes, I know it can take a while to feel better and so many meds have changed (doses) so I am hopeful.

  2. asking God to bring healing to you dear, please take care.

  3. I'm praying for you. I can understand how you could feel just a tad grouchy with all this going on. Love the senior breakfast story! Have a blessed day.

    1. Thanks for the prayers. usually I am quite good and not depressed but after 3 weeks I am getting down. I am confident we'll get this turned around.

  4. Linda, I am sending you a Valentine's hug. I am so glad you check everything when you go to the drs. I hope your thyroid gets attention . My Teddy just had his scanned, he had some nodes...they said come back in 6 months for another scan. What kind of blood thinner are you taking, if you don't mind me asking. I was on warfarin for about 11 years and the new dr took me weaning either. I have been fine. It's a long story. I am looking for another dr. as this one has moved on...GAAA. where are the drs. that give a hoot. I am praying for you Linda. I want you to feel good and be healthy. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. I am on warfarin also. My heart failure dr wants me off of it, not sure why and not sure if I still need it. Will talk to my oncologist when I see him in April, if not before.

  5. May one of this next set of appointments produce a reason for your "out of breath" state and provide a solution for it. Hugs!

  6. Linda, You have a right to be grumpy. I just hope you feel better soon and get to the bottom of it. I am hypothyroid and that can do crazy things to your heart as well as medications. You know all that, I suppose. My Mr. doesn't celebrate holidays. Sad. Sometimes I feel alone, but then I remember that he has been the constant in a world of inconsistencies. So, I'll take Mr. Scrooge and Mr. Grinch good and the bad. Get better, my friend.

  7. I'm glad to know someone else is in the same boat as I am. I am sure we'll get this health/meds thing straightened out, it doesn't happen overnight (altho that would be nice). Yes, my Scrooge and Grinch have been here for me too. It's not a perfect world.

  8. How can anyone hate you? Don't listen to them! But I do the same thing. One person can really mess with a person. I hope they find out what is causing you to feel so bad soon.
I feel the same way, but that is due to my mom's death a month ago. Sorry that I haven't been commenting, but I just haven't been on here much.
Thanks for the funny joke. It made me laugh.

  9. I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well! Your cardiologist is the one who should be addressing why you are out of breath and I hope you'll be seeing that doctor sooner than soon!!!
