Happy Easter card

I picked up some iron ons at the thrift store for t-shirts but tried them on cardstock. They work perfectly on paper. This quick card I will send to one of my grandkids.

His mysterious ways & some trivia

Life is strange, agree?
Deb & I were suppose to be in Florida last week, but she broke her ankle, so we didn't go. That week her brother in law passed away, so she was here for her sister. The funeral was on Saturday and several members of my family (who don't attend church) were at the service and heard the gospel proclaimed. Easter is Sunday.................. Sometimes we think we can see bits and pieces of God's plan but most of the time we don't have a clue, but do know that He has a plan.

As I mentioned earlier we are having an early spring. Hubby, Jim, and Keith have been golfing already. They didn't choose the warmest days to go, in fact yesterday was quite breezy, but they are insane when it comes to golf.

Yesterday afternoon J and I want to see T - my 6 yr old grandson who had quite the ordeal with Meckel's Diverticulum last week. (mom took him to the ER {1/2 hr away from them} 3 times in an 8 hour period before they figured out he did not have the stomach flu). T has 4 little incisions (the progress medicine has made is fabulous). The kids ran around outside in my son's big back yard and woods. (Nearly) 5 yr old J was pooped when we left, he is a couch potato so it was good for him to get out and run.

I LOVE my chocolate bunnies

I found these 'chocolate' bunnies at a garage sale last year and HAD to have them. I was so excited when the Easter season arrived so I could put them out. Don't they look good enough to eat??? HAPPY EASTER!!!

wheel chairs

No, I would not normally post a photo of a wheel chair, but these are so neat I had to!!! I came across this photo on another blog.......... HERE ... (I love to browse other blogs). Apparently a beach in Florida rents these wheel chars that roll easily on the beach sand. Just for you boopnut!!!! *wink*

Those darn cell phone companies & other thoughts

You can just call me the 'queen of cell phone numbers' because I change my number every year or 2. Yes, I've done it again. I have a prepaid phone (Tracfone - and am actually pretty satisfied with it) but I wanted one that got better reception in more places so I am trying Cellcom this time. My sister in law is happy with her prepaid Cellcom phone, so I copied her. BUT, and it is a big one............... if I go with a 2 year contract I could get the phone for $59, but I refuse to purchase a contract and prefer prepaid so I had to buy the same phone for over twice as much. :-( The cell phone companies have us over a barrel and know it!!! I suppose I did not need such an expensive phone but I HAD to have the one with a mini SD card for the camera feature. I don't use my cell phone often, guess I am not important enough to always be on the phone, my kids & friends are grown and don't need to be in constant contact with me. :-)

After a sunny and warm spell it has turned cold again, highs today - mid 30's and windy. This morning it sounded like blizzard weather outside. OK, I'll look on the bright side: our snow is gone (except for the huge snow piles made by the plows), flowers are starting to peek out, and it is almost April.

This has been a bad 2 weeks for those I know: one of my grandsons had emergency surgery (he is home and fine now), my bff (one of our Red Hatters) broke her ankle, one of our Red Hat members lost her hubby, and just a couple of days ago another Red Hat (and personal) friend lost her husband. Since I am our chapters treasurer I purchased gifts/flowers for those gals. Unfortunately our chapter renewal is due and we are broke, so I've had to pay out of pocket for those expenses. I will get reimbursed in 2 weeks so I will survive, I am just thankful that I have a job and was able to do that.

My weekend plans are busier than ever: today I pick J up from school at 11 (as usual); Friday I am off but I need to take my car in for an oil change and tire rotation, that night is the wake; Saturday morning is the funeral (since we will miss our nephew's BD party we might stop at their house afterwards), Saturday night J stays overnight; Sunday is church and then I am going to visit T (my grandson who had surgery-they live about 1-3/4 hours away). Monday I am off but will have both of the boys for 1/2 day, they have spring break. I hope it is nice so we can get outside.

A lovely story about me

Once, a long, long, time ago, there lived a woman who did not nag, whine, or bitch. (That would be me...)
But that was a long time ago and it was just one day. (My hair was long then too.)

Friend to friend

"Better get Better" card for my bff.

Have a great day!

Some SU cards that I made. Have a GRRREAT day!!

The week was hexed!

This has not been a good week for those I know:
My bff broke her ankle and is in bed, we were suppose to be in Naples, FL right now.
My 6 yr old grandson had surgery this week for diverticulitis , was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, etc.......... Many experiences a 6 yr old should not have.
My sister in law's back went out, but she is improving.
I sure hope that is all for the bad luck!

Sunshine

Yesterday was GORGEOUS!!! Sunny and temps in the low 60's. I ran some errands in the morning, stopped at my first garage sale of the season, and did not have my grandson in the afternoon so when I got home I got my book (for book club), pulled out a chair and read on my deck for nearly 2 hours. That is heaven for me :-)!

Later in the afternoon when hubby got home from running his errands (in our little convertible) we went for a short ride around town. It was so nice just to ride with the top down in the fresh air.

I am glad I got to enjoy the warmth and sunshine because it is over, temps will be back to normal, with maybe some rain/snow this weekend.

Home at last and more

Hubby is home from Thailand finally. The trip went well, he actually tried some different foods, namely a prawn and oxtail. :-0

Info you might find helpful:
1. When you take off your sweater to try on another, be sure you put your own sweater back on right side out. I was trying on a cardigan in Shopko the other day and while I was checking out a customer came up behind me and scared the living daylights nearly out of me (to tell me my sweater was inside out. LOL)
2. If you give your bff's hubby a big hug (before she does) when he returns from vacation she might not be too happy. Too bad.......you couldn't get out of bed (he he he) and it was a friendly hug anyway. (You know who you are.)
3. I can only play so many games of Candyland before I start cheating (to get the game over with sooner). I know I am a sad, sad excuse for a grandma.

After work today I decided to stop at the restaurant down the street from us and pick up a 'Corned beef & cabbage' dinner for myself, since I would be having supper alone and didn't feel like cooking. I got plenty of food, enough for tomorrow's lunch. Actually I've never had Corned Beef & Cabbage before, but I eat almost everything and knew I'd like it. It was good: baby red potatoes, corned beef, plenty of cabbage, carrots, and rye bread.

Change of plans

Unfortunately, instead of packing my summer clothes this week, I'll be doing the same mundane daily duties as usual. Let me explain.............Friday night my bff (who does not have the best of luck in the health dept) called me from a local bowling alley saying "I think I broke my ankle." I dropped everything and took her to ER, sure enough, after a couple of hours of waiting, she was told it was broken in 2 places. Four hours later she was checked into a room at the hospital and her hubby arrived (from his week long golf vacation). Needless to say we are both very disappointed that we have to stay in WI and won't be able to enjoy the Florida sunshine.

Looking on the bright side, we are enjoying SPRING!!!! Our snow is nearly gone, we're pulling out lightweight jackets, and the sun feels warm..............OK..........so 50 is warm for us.

Last but not least, I have no idea of where my hubby is or when he's coming home. I called his place of employment on Friday and was told that they thought he'd return today, but I haven't heard a thing and the day is nearly over. He's traveled for work before and there has always been plenty of communication, but not this time. :-(

Simple St Patrick's Day card

I made this simple card by cutting out 3 hearts from a tissue box with my Big Shot, glued a 'jewel' in the center, stamped a saying, and called it a card!

Box made out of a game board

A while back I made this box using an old Scrabble Junior game. I am pretty sure I got the directions out of a magazine, not sure which one, but if you REALLY want to know I can try to find it. ......must be around here somewhere. Some people are so creative, or do they just have too much time on their hands?????

Saturdays great deals!!!

Yesterday my bff & I decided to save some $ at Penney's with her discounts and hubby's credit card. I found 4 clock kits (digital watches and regular clocks-Spider man, Hulk, etc) for the boys. Original price $25.00, marked down to $4.97, but with her discount I paid $2.66. :-)!!! I should have tired on the dress I liked but I had forgotten about her 55% discount when I was looking at it.

Then we went to Goodwill and I found.........drumroll...........NEW BIRKENSTOCKS for my sister in law for $7.99. I HAD to buy them and find someone who could wear them. Fortunately, for me, someone did not know what they were. They are really cute, blue with 'rhinestone' buckles, too bad they were not my size. I also got some .99 stickers, etc there for card making/scrapbooking.

After I got home my grandson came over with the terrible cough he can not get rid of. He coughed so had last night he threw up twice. He also felt like he had a fever last night. We are not going to church or Sunday school today. After I tried the ol' 'triple threat' he seems to be sleeping good. The triple threat is: cough medicine, Vicks on the soles of feet, and on his chest. Of course I had to wait until he was asleep before I could remove his socks, Vicks him up, and put socks back on.

I got an email last night stating that hubby arrived safely in Bangkok. :-)

Signs of spring

Yes! Spring is on the way!!! We are having sunshine and 35 - 40 degree days, the snow is melting, what's left is brown and dirty :-(, people are out walking on the Mariners trail by Lake Michigan, and I saw a garage sale yesterday. Really and truly; people had their sign up and the garage was full and they were sitting around selling stuff. Can you believe I did NOT stop??? I thought about it tho.
Just thought you'd like to know the signs of spring in WI.

It's liver & onions for me

Tuesday night, at our Red Hat meeting, I was saying that I wished hubby was going on the golfing trip today (with his brother and former brother in law) so I could make liver & onions for myself. Guess what? Hubby called me at work yesterday (this occurs only twice a year) and told me that work called him and he might be gone by the time I got home with my grandson in the afternoon. He said he and Mike had to go to Thailand to make a pipe repair......I was sure he was kidding me......but NO! It was true. A flight was finally obtained from Chicago to Bangkok today at noon. So hubby just left in the limo. He is scheduled to leave Thailand on the 10th, but I won't bet any money on that.

I am leaving on the 18th for a week in Naples, Fl. woo hoo!!!! Although it hasn't been too bad here, we've had some sun and 35-40 degree days. The snow is going.......... :-)

I still have an awful cough. Sometimes I cough so hard I can hardly catch my breath. My grandsons have given it to everyone. Hubby said he felt like sh** this morning :-( He even took some Tylenol before he left (he never takes pills either).

This weekend will be like every other weekend: Grandson will spend the night Saturday and we'll go to church and Sunday school in the morning (if we feel good enough and get some sleep). Sunday I will have the evening to myself.

Monday morning I will work for 3 hours and meet the new gal who is starting then. Wish me luck with training the new, educated & experienced & younger person who intimidates me already. At 11 I pick up my grandson. .........the routine starts all over again.

Monday, Monday (postscript to yesterday's post)

Yesterday ended up being 'take your kid to work' day for me. Just after I got out of a nice relaxing bath at 8AM one of my bosses called and asked if I was coming in to do payroll. I had to think b/c I was suppose to be at the school at 9:20 to read to the 4K class. After some brainstorming it was decided that I'd bring J with me while I did the payroll. He's a good kid, I just packed a backpack for him with some activities and he colored and looked at books and his new Pokemon cards. I got those at Goodwill Sunday (1/2 price). One time he came over to me and asked "Does this say spore?" and it did. :-) He is not 5 yet and IS ready to read, in fact he can read the words we work on here.
Since he behaved very well at work (1 hour) we had lunch at McDonald's, then stopped at the library. Grandpa watched him while I got my hair cut, short, very short. Well, I AM going to Florida in 17 days!
While I was in his classroom I discovered why I am always a 'little' late for circle time (free play). I get there about 9:20 and it is really starts at 8:45. :-0 I guess I will be on time for the last 2 months of the school year.

A new week, a new adventure

What will this work week bring??? I wonder........... As far as I know no one has been hired to replace the gal who just quit (she was hired in May 2009). It's Monday morning and I can not work. I guess it will be a surprise when I go in tomorrow. I can handle all aspects of the jobs involved, just can't work everyday since I babysit 2 afternoons per week.
In about 2-1/2 weeks I'll be on my way to Naples, Fl. woo hoo!!!! I am getting excited. I was so proud of myself, I've been staying out of the stores since the holidays and had all my bills caught up.......but.........saturday I shopped at Community Day (Younkers - great sales) and yesterday I stopped at Goodwill. (I did get a really nice pair of jeans). Soon I will have to try on clothes to see if any of my capris fit and figure out what to pack.
This morning I am off to read to the 4K class and then bring my grandson home. I'm getting my hair cut in the afternoon and have to go grocery shopping (the dreaded weekly ordeal). Hubby is off this week so he can watch J.
Tuesday I work and have a Red Hat meeting at night.
Wednesday I work.
Thursday I babysit in the afternoon.
Friday I am working again. After work I'm getting a massage. :-)
My week in a nut shell. If I squeeze anything creative in I'll try to post it.
