What Got Into Me?

On Wednesday I had lab work and a doctor appt. I wasn't sure if I was having chemo or not so I took my dr bag along. Doc said my blood work was good so off to the chemo chair I went. One of the first things I get is benadryl and that makes me very sleepy. That is when I send my driver home and I just close my eyes and rest.
As I am getting settled in the chair the nurse brings me my drink of choice - ginger ale. As soon as I took a drink I said I want a steak sandwich! (it's a joke with one of the nurses and me). But I really was hungry for one and I haven't had red meat for just turns my stomach. Maybe because I was off chemo for 3 weeks my appetite has returned. On the way home Kevin picked up a tenderloin and grilled it for was good, I had 2!
Chemo seems to energize me for about 2 days so I was on a roll last night, I was ambitious and stayed up later that usual. I don't remember what was so funny but I was laughing about something that night....Kevin was seriously getting worried.
I think since I had the drain put in and I can breath again I am starting to be my old, spunky self....a good feeling. The next day when I had my port flushed I was telling the nurse how chemo energizes me and she said that is the 'de????', (one of my chemo drugs), they call it the poor man's cocaine.....I am certainly not sure that's the way to get any cocaine....but I don't have a choice in this matter. It's kinda funny in a weird way though.
Happy to say I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

  1. Oh how nice to have you feeling better and laughing...made me smile, and want a steak sandwich!!!

  2. I am so glad you are a bit energized again. John got that same mini-high when he had his chemo. He was 'up' for a couple of days until it started to wear off. I am praying you through this, Linda. I know it is a hard journey. We are done with chemo for now and I am so happy. God bless you- As bad as chemo is-it is helping you long-term. xo Diana

  3. Good that you have a sense of hubby went through this in 2014 and doing good today. Praying you continue to do good and look forward to happier days.

  4. Linda, I have been praying for you so much, I am thrilled you are feeling sassy again. Steak sandwich...that made me laugh. Blessings to you for a happy mother's day. Love, xoxo, Susie

  5. This post is so encouraging compared to so many that we have seen from you recently! Glad to hear that you are feeling a little more spunky and seen to think that you can see the light. God bless you!

  6. Hi Linda,
I have been praying for you. I love that you are feeling a bit better. Love your silly ways. :-))
    Happy Mother's Day,

  7. Hi, this is my first visit to your blog. It sounds like you tolerate the chemo well, and are even laughing it up afterwards which is great. Happy Mothers Day.
