Feels Like Christmas

I had a nice long post almost ready to go...and poof it was gone, so you're going to get the short version.
I worked 1/2 day today and received:
* a gift certificate for Easter
*bouquet of flower for Administrative Assistant's day
*gift certificate for the above reason
*larger than usual paycheck (extra hours)

We've been home 2 days and I had 3 appointments.
Yesterday I had a port inserted and also a clip in my lymph node. It went very well.
Before the surgery Nan, one of my nurses, came in bearing gifts. She and Julie gave me a big, hand made blanket. When I cover up with it I am suppose to think of it as a hug from the doctor and his 2 nurses. Nan also made a small, 1/2 moon shaped pillow for use with the seat belt or tender area (after surgery). They surprised me!

Monday is my first chemo treatment and hubby is coming along with me. He's been to all of my appointments by his choice and even gave me a hug when I told him that I'm going to need a hug now and then. Tuesday I get an injection. Chemo is scheduled for every 3 weeks. I hope that goes as well as everything else has so far. It's scary, but if other women can do it, so can I!!!

Also my bff is struggling right now with the seriousness of her mother's illness. It appears that Loretta won't make it much longer. If you're a praying person please pray that Loretta is pain free and for peace for Deb and her family. Even though they know life has to come to an end it is still very difficult for them.

I know YOU must be scared but I also know that you are a trooper and will do fine. I have a prayer post going up for you on Sunday so people can pray for your first treatment on Monday.

  4. What a wonderful team of medical staff you have on you side. That is wonderful! Glad to hear that Kevin was able to give you a hug. Don't be afraid to ask him for one when you need it. I do. Not Kevin but my own hubby!
It sounds like they are really appreciating you at work. How nice of them to give you all those gifts. Nice that the reasons for the gifts came at a time when you really need them.

  12. After reading Nana Diana's post this morning I had to come over and tell you that my heart goes out to you and pray that you get the victory over this with God's help. My husband started his first radiation and chemo treatment this week for throat cancer after having a port and a feeding tube put in. A couple days ago I found out that my sister has cancer in her uteris, Sounds like you have a great place to be treated with the best nurses and doctors. May God bless you!

  17. Hi, this is Ceekay from Thinkinofhome. I know you are scared, nervous, uncertain. But you can and will do it. It may not always be fun. You may have to adjust your life....but you can this. How do I know? I have been doing it for almost 8 years. And I also have a loving and supportive husband. You are not alone. You have him, your doctors, family, friends, bloggers, and most of all the Lord. I will be thinking of you this week.

  20. Hi Linda! I'm popping over from Nana Diana's blog to tell you that you are not alone. I have been through this and seven years later I am doing fine. You were smart to go with the port right away. I didn't and after the veins in my arm didn't hold up I wished I had. The port is so super easy to use and will be removed when you don't need it anymore. I'll be praying for you and for your friend Deb. I know you will be fine. It is scary at first because you don't know what to expect. But those chemo nurses are the best there is. I'll be stopping in now and then to see how you are doing.
