I took 2 days off this week for "vacation", what does that mean? I don't know, it has not been a vacation:
Friday night hubby and I drove the convertible in the Classic Car Cruise along the lake, it takes an hour for a normally 20 minute drive. It is fun tho, people sit along side the streets and watch hundreds of cars go by, we wave, they wave.
Saturday my (nearly) 2 year old granddaughter came to spend the night. I was a bit apprehensive b/c she doesn't see us often. But she was wonderful, no problems at all!!!! In the afternoon Eastin & I took the kids (his 2 boys and M) to the new water park in town. That night J came over too & we just hung out at home.
Sunday morning I was not going to try to take 2 kids to church so we just played here, while hubby went golfing. After lunch M's parents came to pick her up. Since I never cook when they come over (I hate cooking) the guys got food at the deli and we ate & visited. About 4pm J went home and so did M.............so I grabbed my book and sat outside and read for a bit. *smile*
Monday I picked J up at 8:20 for summer school, then I shopped, and picked up and took him home at 11am. In the afternoon my bff and I went to Appleton and did some shopping - Savers (thrift store), Archivers (scrapbooking store), Dressbarn, ate at Red Lobster, and lastly Lane Bryant. I got home at 9pm.
Tuesday I had errands to run in town before I got my hair cut............well, the gal at work called and my boss needed me to come in and make out a bill (difficult to do, with gov't forms and all). I was there for 2-1/2 hours. I know they appreciated it! Tuesday night I did attempt to clean the laundry room, still a work in progress tho.
Today I am taking the boys to the library for a summer program at 1pm and they may want to come over here and can stay until 5. After supper I have to go to church and set up for communion.
Thursday morning I will watch the boys until after 1, that includes picking J up from summer school (20 minute drive). I have to do some cleaning, baking, go to church, etc.
Friday morning I invited some Friends over for coffee.
And Saturday it all starts over again, with J on Saturday night.
We don't have plans for the 4th, we usually attend the fireworks and have a cookout with hubby's twin.
The chocolate chips in my life: crafts, grandkids, friends, family, scrapbooking, reading, stamping, Red Hats, thrifting, and I even get on my soapbox on occasion.

Did You Know?
If your child (or you) have a tooth knocked out or broken off you should put the tooth in milk or contact solution (to seal it) and call your dentist IMMEDIATELY!????
Spray Listerine around your yard, not on the wood, to keep mosquitoes away. I have never tried either, but I am putting Listerine on my grocery list and play to try it.

What I am reading today...........
I have decided to post what I am reading, I have always been a reader......in 6th grade I ALMOST read the most books. I was never the tallest, smartest, best at anything, most loved..... :-( Ya think, I'd get use to being 2nd best. Well, I am getting off track here.
A couple of years ago I finally joined a book club. The first group I was in fizzled out....I like the group I am in now, really down to earth and a bit funny too. We go out to eat and talk about the book and who knows what else will come up. Last night we discussed ANGRY HOUSEWIVES EATING BON BONS by Lorna Landvik. That was kind of nice b/c I was already reading it.......one of my thrifty finds (I refuse to buy new books). We all liked it! It's about a group of women (each very different) who have their own book club that spans 30 years.
Before that I read FLIP FLOPPED by (first name ?) Smolinski. It was a good summer read about a young mother and her relationship with the boys father and learning about herself.
Tonight I started a mystery (TELL NO ONE) by Harlan Coben. I've also read JUST ONE LOOK...........very good mystery, I couldn't put it down.
I am open to suggestions so if you have read any good books let me know.

Family Feud
Why do families have to feud? That's right, they don't have to, they choose to. We have a situation here (hubby's family, who is famous for holding grudges) where some one's feelings were hurt (and I understand), but that person decided to not to talk to the one who hurt her feelings but to everyone else, bringing in others, and leading to attacks on certain people. Hurtful things were said and threats/promises were made (not good ones either). Now there is another family feud separating them/us. Can't it skip a generation and start a new trend without a feud????
This really is sad!!!!
Life is short, talk to the people who hurt you, who love you, and whom you care about.

Air Show
My daughter and her children at the air show. It wasn't the best day for it, but we made the best of it. It was good to see them!!
Scenes from Jessica's Wedding Shower
My step-daughters wedding shower was held outdoors on Saturday, we had great weather and a good time. Take a peek for yourself:
trying to get the wiener into the hole. the Groom to be is in the background, the Bride's brother is in the foreground, with his aunt telling him what to do with his wiener. (kinky, I know. .... but neither had their spouse along)
youngest granddaughter having fun in the pool

The day's not over yet
Good Monday Evening.........it's evening already????? Guess so. I set my alarm so I could be up early to go with the 4K class on their field trip to the school forest. I've never been there. We hiked to the beach for a scavenger hunt and then the kids played in the new outdoor play area. It was a perfect day for it........the mosquitoes thought so too. Everyone was full of insect repellent so no one got bit. :-) Grandson J came home with me and after lunch we planted some geraniums and watered the other flowers. I am happy to report that I also got down the screens from the garage attic and put some of them on. It's suppose to warm up later this week, so now I can have some fresh air. We don't have AC and seldom need it in the part of the state we live in. (I have a room AC unit in the upstairs bedroom for those rare HOT nights). White I was up and digging around in the garage I found the box of Legos I knew we had saved from when J's dad was a kid. J had fun building this afternoon and both boys will be able to build on Thursday, when I babysit again.
Hubby is spending the week in Texas for work. Why??? I am not sure........his company flew 8 men down there. They will have to be fed and have rooms for 4 nights. Oh well.....Guess my evenings will be quiet, no complaints from me.
Nothing else exciting planned for the week, just working Tues, Wed, Fri. and babysitting for part of the day on Thursday.

I Believe
I stumbled across this poem and really liked it.........(read slowly)
I believe- that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.
I believe- that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I believe- that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.
I believe- that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I believe- that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I believe- that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I believe- that you can keep going long after you can't.
I believe- that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I believe- that either you control your attitude or it controls you. I believe- that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.
I believe- that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I believe- that money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I believe- that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.
I believe- that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.
I believe- that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I believe- that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
I believe- that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I believe- that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I believe- that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I believe- that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
I believe- that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.
I believe- that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.
I believe- that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally. different.
I believe- that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you. I believe- that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you you will find the strength to help.
I believe- that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I believe- that the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

What's on my mind today
It's been a busy week here, but that is not unusual.
Last week Thursday I and my bff decided to pick up grandson J from school and hit a few garage sales. I didn't find much but J sure did, I can't afford to take him to many garage sales, he always finds something!
Saturday I spent the greater part of the day planting (flowers mainly). After that I eked out a bit of time to read on the deck before grandson J came to spend the night.
Sunday we went to church and then I took the boys, along with my SIL and her 6 year old to the Alpaca farm open house. It's a small event but the boys love it, they are fascinated by the spinning, so I let them watch and learn. After that we all came over here and the 3 boys played with the super soakers (squirt guns). It was a rare warm day here.
Monday we had the first cookout of the season, whew! got that out of the way. We had good weather and a nice time (although there are a couple of kids and adults who just bring out the worst in the other.....grrrrr). The good thing is my BIL's girlfriend had a 16" bike that I really needed for grandson S and the best part is hubby paid for it!!! woo hoo. S is so happy that he has a bike to ride when he comes over here.
Wednesday night I babysat for S & J. The first part of the evening was horrible, J disagreed with EVERYTHING and I was ready to send him to his other grandparents but then things changed and he got along perfectly with his brother. They love to do craft projects and Father's Day is approaching so I decided to make dad a coaster. Lowe's had biscuit 4" x 4" tiles on sale for .08 so I bought 10 of them. The boys used Sharpie markers to draw a picture. I'll seal them and put felt on the bottom and VIOLA!, a nice gift for dad.
Yesterday I had a early appointment, and therefore time to kill before I picked J up from school. I stopped at a couple of garage sales (didn't find anything worth posting) and the thrift store (where I saw a friend and we visited for a bit). I went back to Lowe's to get more tiles for future grandkid (or my) projects, the tiles were only .05!!!! On the way home we stopped at the library's book sale and got a few books and movies. Lastly we stopped at the thrift store in town were I found a perfect clear plastic box with handle for my markers (it matches a square one I already have)................well J took it for his 'memory box'. :-( He put a bunch of his treasures in it, including the Pokemon Sandtrue he just got.........I wanted it!!! but didn't have the heart to tell him he couldn't have it. He has been talking about making 'memory jars' for a long time and I just haven't had the proper container for it.
And that brings us to yesterday afternoon..............GRRR and double GRRRRR. The woman that was hired at work in March (that I was so intimidated by) called to say she can only work 10 days a month. So that means I have to pick up the slack??? When I go on vacation I have to work extra days to make up for it??? NOT FAIR!!! I am not happy, I am willing to work extra days when she goes on vacation or if something happens but I was hired to work my scheduled days and I can, she can't work hers. :-(
Today is rainy, we need it but won't get enough by the sound of the weatherman's prediction.
Sunday is the airshow. My daughter and her family are coming for it so I hope the sun shines.
Monday I am chaperoning J's 4k class when they go to the school forest. I have never been there so am looking forward to it.
Well, did I spill my guys enough for you!!!!
